Katisho is a union council in Tehsil  Kharmang. It was considered to be very important place because Baltistan was not linked with Rawalpindi through road. Katisho used to provide sufficient food items for Karmang.In 1948, when fighting took place between Indian troops and Mujahideen at Mehdiabad.Katisho provide all rations to troops and refugees who came from (Parkuta)Mehdiabad.

Katisho consists of eight towns and its population is approximately 1600.The livelihood of majority of population is agriculture. It is also rich in wildlife. All kinds of birds can be found here. During summer season the people of Katisho take their cattle’s to Deosai. And keep there till the autumn season. All it’s surrounding is covered by mountains. There is also big glacier which is known as Zgobraq glacier. The glacier has not been conquered by any one.

The history of Katisho goes back to Buddhism before Islam. Four hundred years ago the majority of people here were Buddhist then later on all of them converted into Islam. The people here produce the highest quality of ghee (Butter) which is famous in all over Baltistan. From centuries Deosai is connected with Katisho, especially during summer season when they take all their cattle’s in Deosai for grazing. Although the people here are very hardworking but they are using old style of cultivation and they also have very old kinds of cattle’s so they are not much productive. There is also need to introduce new verities of agricultural products.
